Birthday Mania

For those of you who don't know, Gavin and I share a birthday. Now you may be thinking, "that's cool," but you would be wrong. Both Gavin and I agree that on the surface it sounds good, but in all reality, you have to share your day, and really, let's be honest, no one LIKES to share! However, this is the ninth birthday we've shared, so we've gotten used to it. For big birthdays, we usually gracefully let the other one have his/her day and take a back seat. This year, though, despite me turning 35, it was just a regular birthday. I even had to make dinner, as no one offered to take me out!

(Okay, in case Gavin actually reads this ... I had said over the weekend that I was refusing to cook on my birthday, and Gavin had said he wanted me to cook for his birthday. We went back and forth with the whole "it's my birthday" thing. See, not cool! Then on Monday, I was at Sam's Club, realized that we had some salad that needed to be eaten and if I could find something that I didn't acutally have to cook, then maybe I could make dinner. I sent him a text stating that I was making dinner. He immediately called. I asked him if he had other plans ... I think he actually checked his calendar, then said no. So, I got the stuff for supper. That afternoon, Gavin is on his way home. I mention that I haven't started dinner yet ... one last chance for him to say, "Hey, let's just go out" and he says he's hungry, so I could get started. So, yes, I offered, but really thought maybe he'd come through. Oh well. On the upside, it was really good, it wasn't a lot of work, and because it came from Sam's Club, we WILL have it again. Chicken and cheese raveoli's with alfredo sauce, Ceasar salad and bread. Yummy!)

We actually celebrated our birthdays on Sunday evening with the Wigg's. I got what I had asked for ... a 35-hour vacation, plus a few extra things. I am super excited to take my vacation, which includes a hotel, spa package and spending money, now we just have to figure out when. I am also enjoying the Seinfield series with Gavin (he got for me, too). It will be a lot of fun to watch from the beginning to the end. Gavin got Mario Cart from the kids and a bunch of gift cards and cash from everyone else. :-) We have been enjoying Mario Cart and racing people from around the world. I don't even lose all the time.

In other news, yesterday Pearl left the Taekwondo center before me, so when I saw her, I reminded her that she is not to leave without me. Then I asked her my standard safety question, "Could you see me?" (Because if you can't see me, I can't see you and keep you safe.) Her response: "I could see you in my mind." Oh dear!

Awwww, I would not like to share a birthday either. But then again, I DON'T share a birthday and my hubby never does anything for me anyway, it just comes and goes. He, on the other hand, has a birthday that usually falls on Mother's Day and guess what? I usually treat it like HIS birthday rather than Mother's Day. No fair! :P The 35 hour vacation sounds AWESOME!! And your dinner from Sam's sounds yummy!! :)
