Why it's fun to be a mom

At 4:30 this morning, I was woken up by crying from Miss Pearl. So, I got up and went down the hallway only to find Pearl sitting in her bed, having just thrown up. Why do children only get sick in the middle of the night? Not at midnight or 6:30 a.m., but right smack in the middle? I don't know. Anyway, I got her cleaned up and while she was taking a little bath, I took all the yucky clothes and blankets and threw them in the washer. I get her out of the bath, into bed, with a bucket nearby, and head back to bed. Ha! Silly Mommy ... you can't go back to sleep.

A few minutes later I hear Pearl get up to go potty. She seems to be in the bathroom quite a long time, so I decide to get up to check on her. Once again, got her back to bed. I climb in bed. A few minutes later ... she's thrown up again, but it's just "water" so to speak. I clean out the bucket, get her back to bed. I climb into bed. At this point it's about 6:10 a.m., and I'm getting tired. Gavin wakes up ... so I relay the last few hours' events. Just as I'm about to fall asleep ... whining from Pearl's room ... once again! It's about 6:30 a.m., and all I can think is, just 45 minutes of sleep. Gavin's decided to just get up and go to work. At 7 a.m., I convince Pearl that I should get to rest for 30 minutes. I was in bed about 5 minutes before she "spit up" again.

I gave up and decided to just come downstairs, turn the TV on, give her some pedialyte and hope for the best. Of course, as I sat down at my computer, I realized that I need to drop something off at her school by 10 a.m. We might have to bundle into the car, so I can drop that off!

Oh, poor thing! (Pearl and you both!) How is she feeling now? I hope at some point today everyone is asleep so that you can get some rest, too!
