Sad Girl
As you all know, Tuesday is election day. Around here, one of the big issues is the abortion ban that would eliminate 97 percent of the abortions performed in the state. Gavin and I have been volunteering here and there, and Pearl is aware of the issue as well. Just yesterday, the kids and I held signs at one of the major intersections. Pearl held her sign and yelled "VoteYesForLife" for a good 30 minutes. She's a trouper. Tonight, we saw people at the office when we were out and about, so decided we'd run to Hy-Vee to get some snacks for the volunteers. On the way to Hy-Vee, Pearl asked about voting, and I had to tell her that she's not old enough to vote. She was genuinely sad. I actually had to coax her out of the car at Hy-Vee and give her a hug. She wanted to know why she couldn't vote Yes For Life. I told her that she had done all a four-year old could do to help save the babies, and that she could come with me when I vote. I think she's still a little distaught over the whole thing ... but I'm a proud Mommy. I want my children, all of them, to stand up for what's right!
