Thanksgiving Vacation - Part 2

(This is continuation of the last post ... you might want to read that one first!)

Friday (Part 2)
: About 6 p.m., I was holding Macey and noticed that she was breathing fast, so I had asked Mom to get me her medicine to give her a neb. She had not been feeling great after her nap, and had pretty much been resting in Gavin's arms since she got up. She was running a fever, but we hadn't given her anything for it. Gavin ended up having to go start bbq'ing, so he'd gone outside. Just as I was getting ready to get her neb ready, she let out a strange cry and started shaking a bit, then she started jerking and blinking weird. I had Erin get Gavin, and he called 911. I know it seemed like forever, but finally people showed up, just as she was coming out of the seizure. They put her in the ambulence and off we went. About half-way to Iowa Falls, we met up with paramedics, and continued on our trip. She had another seizure in the ambulence, but it was much shorter. The parametics tried three times to get get an IV in her and in the process cut up her brand new shirt! (Did you notice I said tried? They weren't successful!) Anyway, we got to the hospital, and Macey's temperature was 104.6, and she was about as lethargic as it gets for a 15 month old.

They took good care of her, and she was admitted to the hospital for observation. Mom, Pearl and Erin came up to see her. Gavin and I went to McDs for a late supper, then watched Hancock on his computer. In case you haven't read the previous post ... I had been up since 4:15 a.m.!!! i was tired.

Saturday: Gavin stayed at the hospital during the day, and I went home to finish up our crafts. Macey was still pretty out of it most of the day, but did play for a bit when Erin and I came to the hospital. She had a fever again Saturday afternoon, but it wasn't anyting too high and some tylenol took care of it. Mom and Dad came up later to see Macey and pick up Erin.

Sunday: Macey was doing much better by Sunday morning, and they took out the IV water drippy thing. She was fever-free all day. However, because she was feeling better, she wanted to run around and play. :-) Gavin, Mom, Erin, Pearl and Miles all came up to the hospital after church, and Gavin and Macey took a nap together, while I went home to pack and get things ready to head home. Then I headed back to the hospital. Gavin and I hung out with Macey for a bit, then Gavin headed back to Hubbard.

Monday: Macey and I got in the van, loaded and ready to go home, at about 10:10 a.m., and we were out of there!

Thanks to all of you who prayed for Macey. She's still tired and doesn't have a great appetite, but she's doing well all things considered. She's on antibiotics for the next week and sees her pediatrician tomorrow. For more pictures from our weekend, visit http://www.flickr.com/photos/wiggfamily.
