Christmas "Spit-up"... No Pictures Needed

Okay, so we did have a great Christmas, and we did get to spend quality time with our families, but it wasn't without a few hiccups or "spit-ups," as Pearl would say.

Round 1: We got home from a fun Christmas Eve at the Wigg's, and Pearl said her tummy didn't feel good. We had an Appetizer Buffet, and admittedly, I was not monitoring Pearl's intake. We gave her some water, and decided it might just be the anticipation for the morning. We were wrong. As "Santa" was visiting, we heard most unpleasant sounds from Pearl's room. She must have eaten about 20 cherry tomatoes, as that's all that came back up! Oh well, a load of laundry and a bath, and everyone was feeling better.

Round 2: We get to my parent's house in Iowa and have our "Christmas Eve." Everyone goes to bed, but unfortunately I wake up around 5:30 a.m. not feeling so hot. Now, I try really hard not to "spit-up," so I drank some water, tried some deep breathing, tried sitting in the reclining couch. None of this seemed to help. At about 7 a.m. or so, I realize things are not going well. As it turned out, my dad was in the bathroom, and my small request to hurry didn't seem to help. Remember my earlier statement about not "spitting-up"? Well, my body just shut down, and I passed out, hit my head (quite hard) and then rid my stomach of its contents. I would love to say, a load of laundry and a shower and everyone was feeling better, but truth be told, my head hurt so bad, that I laid on the bed in agony for about two hours with ice on my head. As of today (four days later), I still have a mild headache at times, but my stomach is quite better.

Epilogue: Other than Pearl and I, we also learned that my brother-in-law, my sister-in-law, my niece, my sister and my sister's friend (who stopped by my parent's house the day I got sick) were all hit by a tummy bug. Aren't you glad you didn't spend Christmas with us?

Oh no! You poor thing! I am glad you are mostly feeling better! My mom had something similar and so far the rest of us are fine, let's pray it stays that way!
