My Project

When I was five-years-old, I received a doll house for Christmas.  It was from "Santa," but I knew my Dad had made it for me; one of the windows hadn't been cut out from the shingles, and Dad said he'd missed it and would fix it.  He did fix the window.  :-)

Since then, I have always thought it would be fun to paint and carpet and wallpaper and tile; however, that never happened.  It really is some sort of small miracle that we still have it.  After all, my parents have moved about 10 or so times in the last 30 years.  For the last few years, my doll house, which has remained at my parent's house, has been played with by some great little girls who my Mom had in a Bible Study.  My kids had also began to play with it, and as my kids are not getting any younger, I decided it was time to bring the doll house to my house.   This was at the beginning of the summer, and we did clean it all out with Murphy's Oil.  And then it had just stayed in the garage, as we couldn't figure out where to put it.  However, Gavin was tired of tripping over it in the garage, so this past weekend I brought it inside and gave it some new life.

After:  I decided to leave the "inner" walls messy and unpainted to remember the past,
and because I did not want to paint all those window sills and the door frame.

After:  Up close look at the flooring options.

The current homeowners have only been able to send the furnishings for one room, as they and the rest of their belongings are at the Bay of E at the current time.  They are hoping that the rumored squatters (Polly Pocket, Bumblebee, Cinderella and friends) will take good care of the place until they and their belongings arrive over the next few months.

Until next time,
