Early last week, we decided we needed a night without our children, so arrangements were made. I was planning to drop the children off around 4 p.m. at Gramma Barb's and Grandpa Kent's for a fun-filled sleepover!
However, that didn't happen. Not even close.
Thursday night, Miles had a rough time sleeping, so I gave him a half dose of cough syrup, and we both got some sleep. (I don't know how to sleep through my children coughing.)
Friday morning, the kid woke up coughing, and coughed up/threw up mucas. Yuck! Sadly, this continued throughout the morning, and he couldn't keep anything down. He did take a nap and woke up refreshed. That only lasted about 10 minutes. (By this time, plans had changed slightly: The kids wouldn't sleepover, but Gramma Barb would come watch them so Mommy and Daddy could go out on a date.)
Unfortunately, my little limp noodle spiked a little fever around 4:30 and his breathing became labored. We weren't really comfortable with this situation and had to cancel date night. Instead, Gavin took Miles to acute care, and I took the girls to pick up my new glasses. The girls and I then headed to Chili's for supper, a girls outing at Target and then a painful wait at Walgreens. Gavin and Miles enjoyed some guy bonding time, while Miles was diagnosed with pneumonia, given two shots, had an x-ray and some blood work done.
Once home, I got everyone into bed, and Gavin ran to the movie theater to get some popcorn! At home we enjoyed a movie with movie theater popcorn. Not too shabby, despite the change in plans.
Update on Miles: He woke up a new man! If you didn't know the kid was sick yesterday, you would never guess in a million years that he had been. He's up running around and being completely crazy! No fever or signs of slowing down. The amazing powers of antibiotics! (And we caught it super early!)
Until next time,
