Yea! On Friday, it was finally nice enough to play outside. After running around after school and into the evening, I let the kids play outside until 8:50 p.m. Shhh ... don't tell the teacher! Oh wait, it was Friday night!
On Saturday, we played some more outside and even had a picnic lunch in the Castle. That afternoon, Pearl had our neighbor over to play. Gavin played with all three of them when he returned.
Sunday was beautiful here. After "skipping" church (ooops!) and enjoying some breakfast, we came home and enjoyed the sun and Castle. Sunday evening, Gavin and I headed out for a quick date. We went miniature golfing and out to dinner at one of our favorite places: Lonestar! And we picked up some Cold Stone for a late-night snack.
Upon our arrival back at home, my mother-in-law was out putting something in her car and told us, "we have one lost shoe and one hurt arm." To be honest, I was probably more concerned about the shoe ... we just bought them!! As I walked in the door, my niece is crying about having to leave, so I try to console her by reminding her that her birthday is next week. She doesn't seem to care; she just wants to stay and play with Pearl. Pearl ... right, she's the one who hurt her arm. I wonder where she is? (And where is that lost shoe?) I did notice that our nephew had also been at our home and said hi/bye to him as we passed in the staircase. I think Barb and the niblings lefts soon after that. Next, I find Pearl sobbing with freezer froggy on her arm. I asked her and Kent what had happened. My mommy instinct said she needed to go to the doctor. Gavin wanted to wait it out for a bit and see. Fast forward about an hour: The girl can't pick up a pillow with her left hand/arm. Off she and I go to the doctor's. Thankfully, acute care is open until 9 p.m. They do a couple of x-rays, but don't find any breaks/fractures. Still, they put her in a sling. She had a tough time getting to sleep, but eventually slept and seemed to be in much better spirits this morning.
Until next time,
