Summer Fun

Despite the weather, it is officially summer vacation here!  We've been out of school for almost a month, so it is important to make the most of it.

We have just returned from a week-long relaxing vacation with my family, and we had a blast.  My sister, the grandkids and I arrived on Friday afternoon and got settled in for the week (the husbands/son-in-laws didn't arrive until Sunday).  My parents rented a house on the Nebraska side of the Lewis and Clark Lake.

The hot tube was a huge hit with the 10 and under crowd!
(Also with the 30 and over crowd, but we don't have any pictures.)

Damian got a hold of Zoey and showed her some lovin'.

It rained all day on Saturday, so we had a jammie day.  The kids loved it.

The kids played games and did crafts.

Sunday was still a little dreary, but my dad and I took the five big kids out for an adventure in the morning ... well to check things out and learn that South Dakota residents can't buy fireworks in South Dakota until June 27.  (I just went back later with my sister.  Problem solved.)

The big kids played bean bag toss as the day got nicer.

Damian was a rock star on the trike!

My dad made these for roasting marshmallows.  Isn't he crafty??

Once everyone had arrived and the forecast had been checked, it was decided to go to the lake on Monday.  My parents rented a pontoon and a tube, and we set out for a fun-filled day.

Macey and Miles on the boat.

Erin and I (and Mom).
Just wanted proof that I was there!

The grandkids: Miles, Nic, Damian, Macey, Pearl and DJ.

Miles and Daddy on the tube.
This ride ended with both of them in the lake!

Gavin standing on the tube; because D had stood on the tube.  :-)

Macey ... sassy and dancing on the tube with Grammy!

She ended up pushing me off.  The water was frigid!

Pearl was in her element.  She loved tubing!
(And just to show up her uncle and daddy, also stood up on the tube, briefly!)

Tuesday, we hung out at the house for most of the morning, flying kites and shooting marshmallow guns.  In the afternoon, we were treated to go-karts and bumper boats at Karttrax.  That evening, we took family pictures and did fireworks.

Flying kites.

Bumper boats.  I was soaking when we got done, but it was fun.

Pearl and DJ driving go-carts the track!

Miles and Macey race to the finish.  The kids thought it was fun to get to drive!

Everyone enjoyed some watermelon before hitting the hot tub.

Wednesday morning we were at the house again in the morning and then headed to the fish aquarium/hatchery and to the river for some exploring.

The big kids ready to explore and feed some fish.

Nic feeding the trout.

At the river, Gavin took the oldest three exploring a little further
down the river than the rest of us ventured.

After exploring at the river, the kids played at the park for a little while.

Thursday morning we got up, packed our stuff, cleaned the house and said our good-byes.

Thanks for the memories ... we'll have to do this again soon!

Until next time,
