The next weekend was Birthday/Easter Weekend. We had a fun "Triscuit" party for our birthdays and celebrated Easter at our church and then with our families. We also enjoyed a few days off from school.
We are both in our late 30s ... that's old, right?

This past week, Macey and I left and headed to Des Moines. We left Wednesday night, and Macey danced her solo on Thursday morning. We played Thursday afternoon/evening and on Friday with our friends from our gym and then she danced one of her duets on Saturday morning. She did great on Thursday, but didn't place. Her duet wasn't their best performance, but they still did a great job, but didn't place. It just wasn't their day!

Before leaving Des Moines, we got to stop by and see our friends: Jenny, Jeff, Natalie, Marissa, Travis and Cade (the newest addition to their family). It had been almost two years since we last saw them. Macey really enjoyed playing with Marissa and wanted to go back and play again soon!

While we were away, Pearl got to perform at the Harlem Globetrotters half-time. It sounded like she had fun! Miles got to spend some time with Grandpa Kent, which I hear was a good time. Both kids spent the night at Grammy and Grandpa Ron's on Friday night, as Gavin was out of town on Saturday. And, Saturday was Pearl's first Art Club class. She had a great time. I love her love for the arts, even if it is a far cry from my interests!!

We all were finally home Saturday night. Sunday was off to a rough start, as Macey didn't feel well through the night, which meant she didn't sleep well. She was so tired that she fell asleep on my lap while waiting for Pearl to get done singing. And she was complaining that her tummy was hurting.

I wasn't sure she should go to cheer and dance tryouts at noon, but when I suggested she not go, I got nothing but tears. I let her go. Her coaches said she did okay, but was definitely not herself. We then went to our nephew's birthday party. It was fun, but Macey was still having a rough time, so eventually Gavin took her home. She was starting to perk up when I got home with Pearl and Miles and by bed time she was doing handstands, so I think she was just tired.
At any rate, we have a pretty normal week ahead of us and then another competition on Sunday! Wish the girls luck!!
Until next time,
