In preparation for the cold winters that bestow us here in the Midwest, I was on top of things. Boots and snow pants were purchased in October this year. No waiting until the last minute/first heavy snow fall. I was on top of it.
- Snow pants for Pearl. Check.
- Snow boots for Pearl. Check. (And much warmer ones than last year's model, I might add.)
- Snow pants for Macey. Check ... there are some 3t ones hanging in the closet.
- Snow boots for Macey. Check ... we have three size 10/11 boots around here.
- Snow pants for Miles. Check. (Got some at the SFMOMC fall rummage.)
- Snow boots for Miles. Check. See note above.
Yep, I was on top of it. And then it snowed. On Christmas Eve we decided to go out and play in the snow. Everyone got geared up. Everyone looked warm. Everyone except Macey. Macey's snow pants looked like capris. What? I wondered? But everyone was so excited, I just pulled her pant leg down over her boots and sent her outside to play. See the snow-covered lower third of my snow angel? It's snow covering her pants - just regular cotton pants, not snow pants. Nope, the snow pants end right below her knees.
So, what's a mommy to do? Get new snow pants of course. Except that no one has snow pants any more. Yep, that's right folks. Despite that we still have a solid three months left of snowy cold weather, I can't seem to find snow pants. The stores have moved on. It's all hearts and butterflies. Next stop: used clothing/consignment shops. I'm trying to avoid eBay, but there are some for sale there.
So, there we have it. One of my "Bad Mommy" moments ...
UPDATE: So, I forgot to include the little tidbit of information that I discovered when I removed the snow pants from my snow angel ... they were really a size 2T, thus leaving us completely without a size 3t for the girl. I searched the 4t clothes around here. Apparently Pearl was not let outside the year she was 3/4 ... oh wait ... she wasn't. We had newborn twins. Poor girl ... chalk it up to another "Bad Mommy" season! :-)
Until next time,

Oh, I wish you lived closer, I bet you could borrow some! Somehow we always end up with multiple pairs of snowpants of the same size (acutally, not "somehow"- it's called Grandma goes to too many garage sales and forgets what she buys! LOL). So did Macey grow a lot or why were they so short on her?
