Mixed Emotions

School starts tomorrow.

It is my oldest's last first day of elementary school.  How did that happen??  She is super excited to start the year, but when the year ends, so does a chapter in her life.  She will move on to a new school and likely be the only one from her class at that school.  She will be at a school where she will likely know no one, so I hope she enjoys this year and treasurers her memories and her friendships.  Our little girl is growing up!

We also send off two first graders.  While one is excited, one is not.  It is so hard to send a child somewhere that she doesn't want to go.  Even when she has friends there.  Even when she knows and likes her teacher.  Even when her sister and brother will be there. Even when one of her parents will be there one day a week.  Even when it is for her own good.  It still is hard, and tears at the heart a bit.  She's a mommy's girl, and it makes me a little sad that she really doesn't want to go.

Our little guy is so sweet ... he loves school, much like his big sister, and is excited to hang out with the boys.  I do appreciate that he has to deal with his sister (who can be a bit dramatic), and he does it without complaining and with a smile!

And as for our extra-curricular activities.  This year will be a big change from previous years.  While all the changes have been our decisions (with input from the kids), they are still changes.  Good changes?  Yes.  But changes, nonetheless.

One thing I am excited about is that our kids are going to get to participate in Awanas this year.  Macey was a bit skeptical, but as long as her brother and sister will be along, she was okay with it.  While Awanas is great, I am pretty sure the best part is that my mom will be taking them, which means a weekly date night for my husband and me!!  :-)

Until next time,
